1. First, install the Outlook application from Office CD or by downloading it.
2. Then, launch the email client on the Windows PC.
3. In Outlook 2010, go to File>>Open>>Import to convert Outlook Express to PST file.
4. In Outlook 2013 and 2016, go to File>>Import and Export.
5. From the Import and Export Wizard, select Import Internet Mail and Addresses and click Next button.



6. Following that, choose Outlook Express and select Mail and click the Next button. 
7. Finally, click on the Finish button and click Save to Inbox to save an export summary.

Step 1: Transfer DBX Folders to New Computer

1. To locate the files containing OE data, open the application on the old computer and go to Tools>>Options.

Note: Simply copying Outlook Express folders to a shared location is not sufficient. One must copy the folders to the machine where Outlook is installed to convert Outlook Express to PST file.
Next, go to the Maintenance tab and click on Store Folder button.



From the Store Location dialogue box, copy the complete path to import DBX folder into Outlook.



Note: Complete path needs to be copied for future reference. Just select the folder path and press Ctrl+C key to copy DBX files to Outlook. Then, open a Microsoft Notepad and press Ctrl+V key to paste the location there. 

Next, change the view settings of Windows Explorer to permit one to see hidden folders. Outlook Express folders are saved in hidden folders.

Then, go to the location where the DBX files are saved.

To import DBX folder into Outlook, burn the OE folders to a CD/DVD or save them to an external drive. Then, copy the folders to the other computer.

Or copy the DBX files to a shared network drive and then move them to the computer which has Outlook installed.

To move DBX files to Outlook, download and install OE on the computer which has Outlook client.

Next, launch the OE client and if asked to create a new account just click Cancel.

Then, go to Tools>>Options>>Maintenance Tab>>Store Folder.



From the Store Location dialogue box, click on the Change button.



Then, Browse to the folder location where the copied DBX file is saved and select that folder.

After adding DBX files to Outlook Express, click on the OK button on Store Location and Options box.

If asked to confirm the action, click Yes button and restart OE to complete the move.

Step 2: Import DBX Folder into Outlook

In Outlook 2010 go to File>>Open>>Import.

In Outlook 2013 or 2016, go to File>>Import and Export.

Then, select Import Internet Mail and Addresses>>Next.

After that select Outlook Express and make sure Mail has been selected.

Click OK and then, Finish.
